Transparent obliteration
First I tried white thread with straight lines, but I didn't like it and took it out. It was somewhat shiny and attracted my eye. Now I am trying grey stitching in curvy lines. Trying to 'transparently' obliterate the 'less important areas' so that the encircled areas stand out more. But I think the stitching creates too much pattern and competes with the area that I want to stand out. But I like it from farther away... where the pattern is less dominate. So I continue anyway seeing where it leads. Sometimes trying is all you can do.

Looks like a topographical map.
when i "step back" i see the accented areas, not the stitching per se----maybe your eye is only drawn to the stitching at this point because it is so apparent as the entire background is not covered? What about denser near the motifs, like shading/shadows?
The grey stitching brings so much movement to the piece and enhances the colors moving through the space. This is exciting. xox Corrine
I like the grey stitching too, not finding it distracting, love the layered effect, some floating feeling happening... very nice!
